Doctoral research fellow Nils Jochum

Nils Jochum studied history and geography at Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg. Since June 2023, he has been working on his doctoral thesis entitled 'Die Heidelberger Stadtverwaltung im Nationalsozialismus' (working title). His research focuses on the role of municipal administrations within the polycratic structure of the Nazi regime, exploring how local officials influenced both everyday governance and the broader stabilization of the system. His academic interests include the functioning of urban administration under dictatorship, local power structures, the entanglement of bureaucracy and ideology, and processes of denazification after 1945.
