Prof Dr. Klaus Gestwa is the Director of the Institute for Eastern European History and Area Studies at the University of Tübingen. His current research interests include the environmental history of Eastern Europe, the Soviet nuclear modernity, memory conflicts in Eastern Europe, the fall of the Soviet Empire and the history of Russia and Ukraine since 1991.
